Conductor

A founding member and conductor of Lyricora, Daniel Schmunk is an accomplished music educator, choral conductor, and clinician. Throughout his career, he has held teaching positions in New Hampshire, on Boston’s North Shore, and in the MetroWest region, teaching all aspects of music at every level in both public and private institutions.

In addition to his work in music education, Dan has been actively involved in musical theater, serving in a variety of roles including director, musical director, and conductor. His theatrical credits include productions of The Fantasticks, Godspell, Sweeney Todd, and Into the Woods.

Dan previously served as Director of the School of Continuing Education at the New England Conservatory, where he oversaw all aspects of the conservatory’s adult extension division. He later served as Director of Strategic Development at Portsmouth Christian Academy. He is currently the Choral Director at Lowell High School, where he leads the high school choral program.

As a professional musician and conductor in the greater Boston area, Dan has held church music positions at Tremont Temple Baptist Church in Boston—the first integrated church in America—and at Boston’s historic Park Street Church, where he has served as Director of Choral Music since 2014.

Dan also maintains a private teaching studio on Boston’s North Shore. He lives with his wife, a soprano, and their three sons, all enthusiastic and promising musicians.
